Your Local SNP Candidate for the Scottish Parliament


Jim was elected Highlands & Islands MSP in 2003 and was member of the Finance Committee until the Parliament was dissolved prior to the May 2007 elections. As Shadow Enterprise & Economy Minister was a member of the SNP’s Cabinet.

Jim joined the SNP in 1996 and was the SNP’s National Treasurer from 2000 to 2004. He contested Ross Skye & Inverness West in 1999, Argyll & Bute in 2003 and the 2000 Ayr By-election. He now stands along with a team of hard-working, ambitious and energetic council candidates preparing to move Argyll & Bute forward following the elections in May 2007.

He has been involved in the development and promotion of the Economic Case for Independence and is a Director of Business for Scotland.

He was born in 1947 and is married with two children and is a chartered accountant who was involved in the computer industry, latterly running his own business, before entering politics.
